Did I say a lot of kicks?

The theme of Karate class today was many kicks.  When I say many, I am talking almost 45 minutes of kicks.  We did all different kicks and when I thought we were done, we did more kicks.  Did I say we did a lot of kicks?

We started with standing kicks to warm up.  We did front snap kick to the front, side thrust kick to the side and back kick to the back.  We did the same and then added roundhouse kick to the end of those.  Next came hook kick and round kick, then hook kick with roundhouse kick and hook kick all in one count.

The next kicking drill was four kicks around the clock.  We started out facing forward doing front snap kick, side thrust kick, roundhouse kick and hook kick, then turn clockwise to the 10 minute position, then 20 minute, all the way around the clock in 10 minute increments.

We did the next drill from a front stance moving forward doing hook kick and roundhouse kick.  We then did front snap kick, side thrust kick, back kick, roundhouse kick and hook kick.

After that, Sensei has us grab the wall with one hand and do side thrust kicks.  We started did low and high kicks pulling the foot back to the start position as fast as possible.

Kata to the end…

We spent the rest of the class working on our kata.  For those doing Gojushiho Sho, we did the first six drills going up to the cross leg stance with the low punch.  We then did the entire kata four more times and class was over
